Rosés, Rosés, Rosés!

On the topic of Rosé, Mother’s Day is this coming Sunday and I can think of no finer gift

for Mom. The annual release of the highly acclaimed Domaine de la Mordoree Tavel Rosé’s are

due in this Thursday. Gorgeous in their youth and among the most age-worthy in their category,

these drop once a year and are not to be missed. There will be three tiers available:

2018 La Reine de Bois- Coming from a vineyard site planted on the pebbled soil covered with

stones that are typical of the grand crus of the Rhone Valley. 60% Grenache, 15% Clairette,

10% Syrah, 10% Cinsault, 5% Bourboulenc. Very aromatic and complex with great depth,

freshness, and minerality. Aromas of spring flowers, white fruits, raspberry, pomegranate, and a

touch of menthol. VERY LIMITED. $36.99

2018 La Dame Rousse- A blend of 60% Grenache, 10% Cinsault, 10% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre,

5% Clairette, 5% Bourboulenc from 40 year vines. Hand harvested and bottled. A touch lighter

than the Reine de Bois, the wine is dry and crisp with mid-palate richness and a

mouthwateringly mineral finish. The aromas and flavors bring to mind spring flowers, black

currants, wild strawberry, and a touch of anise. This is luxury Rosé, to be sure. $29.99

2018 Cotes du Rhone- A blend of 40% Grenache, 30% Syrah, 15% Cinsault, 10% Carignan, 5%

Mourvèdre from 20 year old vines. Light salmon pink in hue, this wine brings to mind blood

orange and cherry framboise with characteristically excellent minerality. $18.99
