I know we have had a string of big reds coming out via email, but I wanted to let you all in on a real steal I discovered this afternoon. Now, if any of you know me or have dropped by the store recently, you know I love a good closeout deal when I see one. So lend an ear and get the drop on the 2013 B.R. Cohn Cabernet Sauvignon. Here's the story:

B.R. Cohn is a family owned estate/winery that was purchased by Bruce Cohn in 1974, though the winery itself was not founded until 1984. Bruce's other gig was managing none other than The Doobie Brothers. He sold grapes for a few years before bringing on someone you may have heard of, Helen Turley, to begin making wine from the vineyards. Since that time, B.R. Cohn has focused on making high quality Sonoma wine with a strong focus on Cabernet.

Fast forward to 2015. Vintage Wine Estates (who also owns Girard, Cosentino, and Cartlidge & Brown, among others) purchases B.R. Cohn so Bruce can focus solely on the Doobie Bros., and they soon discover a few mystery barrels in the back of the winery labeled "Sonoma" and "Napa", which they soon realize is buried treasure. And that brings us to the wine itself.

The 2013 Gold Label B.R. Cohn is a beast of a wine that is aged for 22 months in three-year French Bordeaux barrels and features 54% Sonoma and 46% Napa fruit. (Remember those mystery barrels?) The juice has a beautiful opaque purple color that stains the glass and aromas of plum, cassis, and toasty oak dominate. On the palate it seamlessly displays a full body, velvety tannins, and layered flavors of dark berry, cedar, and pine. The finish is smooth and lingering. Drink it with the richest of meals and it will do just fine.

My distributor bought out the last of it of the vintage, so we are able to offer the wine for $24.99 a bottle, although it's worth every penny of its original release price of $45. The wine comes in 6 packs so the six bottle case price with a 10% discount comes to $134.95 plus tax. As of today, there are 48 six-packs left and they are going very fast. If you are interested, please feel free to call us at the store or simply reply to this email.
