I know you are all probably out enjoying these wonderful spring days so I will be quick. The title of this email sounds like a shabby chic home decor store, but really it's about two very different wines we have just received. The first is the lovely, well-priced Custard Chardonnay from Don Sebastiani in Sonoma County (see description below). You know how I love Chardonnay and this one is perfect for the upcoming fair weather entertaining and it's just $17.99 the bottle or $194.30 the case.
The second wine is very limited and comes from our old friend and winemaker Ehren Jordan at Failla Winery in Russian River. Some of you will remember Roger's story of me and Ehren drinking late into the night at Tra Vigne resturant back when I was young and Ehren was even younger. I always protested Roger's version of the story but am not ready to share my own. ANYWAY, the wine is the 2013 Failla Keefer Ranch Pinot Noir and it is stellar. We have six botttles to sell at $52.99 a bottle. Here is what Antonio Galioni has to say about this wine:
92 points Antonio Galloni ( Vinous)
"The 2013 Pinot Noir Keefer Ranch is one of the juicier wines in the range, yet it retains the mid-weight style of the year at Failla. Rose petals, mint, hard candy, cinnamon and sweet red berries add nunace in a supple Pinot that presents a laid-back expression of Russian River exuberance. Drink: 2015-2021. (Jan 2015)"
